I need to replace the rubber bushing on the drivers sided front strut.
The bushing stickes out through the enging bay from the top of the
strut. I have removed the bolt and hardware from the top but cannot
seem to pry out the rubber bushing. Does anybody have any suggestions
on how to replace this part. Do I need to remove the strut completely?
Would jacking up the front end to release some of the tension help? Any
    suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Paul

It sounds like you are trying to change the spring seat if this is what
you are trying to replace you do need to remove the shock assembly from
the car , you have to compress the spring & then remove the top nut
which holds the bearing plate to the body then remove the second nut
that holds the spring seat to the shock if you do not feel comfortable
with doing all of this then bring the car to your local Volvo specialist
or to your Volvo dealer also you should change both the right & left @
    the same time
