    Hi folks,

Something odd is occuring with my dad's 240. I did some Googling, but
wasn't able to find an answer. I'm hoping I've brought my question to
    the right forum. =)

When he starts the car, the Check Engine lamp normally lights up, and
then goes off. Recently, *the lamp does not light up at all*. The
mechanic replaced the actual lamp, but the Check Engine light still
    does not work.

What are common reasons why the Check Engine light won't work? What
can we do to resolve this?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

If the bulb is not burned out, then maybe there's a bad connection
between the bulb and the computer. This includes the connection from
bulb to circuit board, circuit board and harness etc. If that doesn't
fix it, the only other thing it can be is the computer itself. I think
this wire is also connected to the ignition control unit. Hopefully
it's just a bad bulb, or the new one was not installed correctly.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
