The fuse just gets really hot when the fan is running, if left on high it
eventually melts the plastic of the fuse and then starts to melt the fuse
box, which is starting to sag. Any suggestions.

  2. Ensure that the connectors are tight and not loose enough to introduce high
resistance which will act like a small electric fire.

You may have to replace the connectors in the fuse box at this point. You
should measure the current draw with a multimeter if you have one, but it
might be a better idea to just replace the fan motor, they're under 20 bucks
here if you ask for one for an '87 Chevy Citation or Celebrity, exact same
motor, looks like you're in AU though so I have no idea if these are
    commonly available there.

  4. The fuse contacts have burned up. Same thing happened to us (same fuse, same
model/year). I had to move the fuse, which entailed pulling the fuse / relay
assembly out (fairly easy - release the tabs at the side... I think the
radio has to come out though). I don't recall the position I moved it to,
but there weren't a lot of candidates. I think I cut and spliced the wire,
but it has been a while. I recall it wasn't a big job.

If you need to know which position I used, I can look tomorrow.

  5. Aren't his fuses on the end of the dash covered by door when closed and his
relays next to his right leg inside console? Or was that only after 1988/9
    (Facelift).

    Cheers, Peter.

  6. Only know about the US version, but the fuses in the US 85 760 are in the
center console, with the relays. There aren't any conflicting pictures in
the Haynes, so I suspect it applies to all the '85s.

Only after the facelift. Earlier cars have the fuse/relay box tucked in
behind the ashtray in the center console. Looks like a pain to get to until
you realize the whole thing slides out fairly easily making everything
    accessible.
