    Hello everyone!
I am not very common with posting on this group but I read the posts very
often, so I would like a little help from you...
I come from Croatia (I think most of you don't even know where that is, it's
near Italy and Slovenia:). For quite a long time I am searching to buy a
Volvo 850 T-5R. My dad had two Volvos (200 series) and from that time I fell
    in love with these cars.
The thing is that today I found a yellow T-5R in the ad. I called a man and
he said the following about the car condition: the body (i thing that's the
english word) has 360.000 km (in miles I think that's 225.000 miles) and the
engine (second, the first one "blew up") has 180.000 km (112.500 m). he sais
the car is in decent condition (everything is working except the air
condition). i am meeting the guy today so I will know everything else. he
wants 7000 USD (in EUR of course) for the car.

    S O P L E A S E tell me the common reliability issues on this car. I am
going to do a standard check with the mechanic but i would like to know what
special things to look out for.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

p.s. i was writing very fast cause I am at work so sorry about the spelling
    mistakes, if there are any:)

  2. The thing is that today I found a yellow T-5R in the ad. I called a man
Well, I would check the service history, has he proof of the new engine etc.
Has the car been serviced, does it have a service book?
Check the engine cover, does it say B5234T5, thats the name of the original
engine in 2.3 litre, in some countries there is a 2.0 version called, B5204.

As you mention the air condition is a problem, sometimes it´s easy to fix,
often it can be expensive up to around 1000 euro if the evaporator in the
    instrument panel is leaking.
Another common problem is oil leak from the sealing on the crankshaft
towards the gearbox / clutch. Check for oil spillage there.

360.000 km is quite much, but if its well looked after it´s perhaps not a
    problem.
