    Hi,
My -94 850 T5 tranny is most of the time not locking up (the mechanical
lockup in 2nd to 4th gears). I get a bad mpg. I also have an occational
shift lock problem (could be that the brake switch is not working or the
microswitch). Could these be related, i.e. if the brake switch is not
working it would prevent the lockup of the tranny (like you would be
pressing the brake all the time which would relase the lockup)?
    Any ideas are welcome!

    Thnx,
    Art

I believe a electrically faulty stop lamp switch will prevent the 'box from
locking up yes- i.e. if the computer is being signalled all the time that
the brakes are in use cos of the faulty switch.
