I need the metal part that attaches to the exhaust manifold on one
end, then connects to the air intake metal hose on the other. I don't
know what you call it, and can't seem to find it at any parts places
    on line.
The only junk yard that MIGHT have it is about 125 miles away....seems
Volvos aren't good profit items for them.
    Any ideas??
    thanks--Tyler

    You don't want it.
It makes your car run poorer than it needs to unless it is freezing.
Does it get ridiculously cold there?

ipd has them for 15 dollars...theres a thermostat in the air box that must
function properly or the maf sensor will fail due to heat...if your in the
usa your car wont pass smog test with no preheater hose

We are in west central Ohio - It has gotten down to -10F before, just
about every winter maybe for a couple of nights. -25F worst case. The
end of the hose is about 4 inches from the manifold. I think the
thermostat is going to act accordingly - switch to front air intake if
other gets too warm, or maybe hang in the middle if total air-in is
about normal...whatever the case I don't see the harm, for now,
    anyway.
    Thanks--Tyler

Can the thermo fail from a missing uh, "boot", or am I missing
something? I know the thermo is working properly now. I have been
through this vehicle from bumper to bumper and replaced the item last
    December.
    Thanks--Tyler
