    Hello All
I was looking at the center bearing assembly on my 89 740GL this weekend. I
noticed that the spring that holds up the rubber piece is missing. Is this
why I am getting a shudder on acceleration from a stop. Can I just replace
    the spring without removing driveshaft?
    Thanks in advance.

There is no spring on the 740, only the 240. Shudder can be caused by
the rubber hanger getting weak though.

P.S. on the other post - the hood from the 1990 740 is not the same as
any other year, so if it's for this car it won't work.

Thats news to me. The reason I thought there was a spring was because I was
looking at a new part on newanusedvolvo.com and the picture shows a spring.
I also forgot to mention that this part was replaced about 1 year ago by
previous owner.I've only owned it for 10 months now.The entire
assembly, bearing and support was replaced. Now it seems to be bad again. The
garage that replaced it was not a volvo shop.Just some local yocal's shop.
    Thanks Larry
