    Hello,

I would like to get some help from people who might know. My mechanical
skills vis a vis cars is pretty minimal. Any help will be appreciated.

I just put a brand new battery in our Volvo 740 (not turbo). It has been
sitting idle for about 7 months since we simply don't trust it as an every
    day car anymore

(We had intermittent problems with it in the winter where it would start,
take you to work, start again after work but then the engine would turn over
but not catch/start after a quick stop at the local convenience store on the
way home . A couple of different Volvo specialists in our town couldn't
find the problem. We had fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump relay, injector
relay and fuel pump all replaced. In the end, with two kids under 18 months
at the time we simply couldn't afford the time and energy to dicker around
and make sure it is working properly.)

Finally the question: It started up great but I noticed while I was idling
that when I used any electronics (for example power windows or air vent fan)
the engine's idling rate went down. Is this normal or something I should be
    concerned about?

I also took it out for a quick trip and it felt like it was struggling and
idling just slightly rough. Now that may just be because it had sat idle
for as long it did but again any suggestions or experiences regardingthat
    would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Mike

For the stalling, there's a couple of other parts not mentioned: The
power stage which switches the primary coil current. It's mounted on
the left inner fender. Also the flywheel pickup, mounted on the back of
the engine, just above the flywheel.

First try filling the car up with fresh gasoline before doing anything
    else.
