I need to replace the mid+rear section of my 940 Turbo Estate and have
ordered a kit, but the joint to the Cat looks a bit corroded. Its a tapered
flange type joint with triangluar clamps that are smaller than the flange
diameter (and so can't be replaced) and bolted together either side of this
    joint.

The bracket looks as if the bolts are part of it and I am worried that these
will break on dissassembly. Do these bolts come out, or would you have to
cut the pipe off the Cat and wled it back on? Is there a way round this or
are you expected to replace the Cat aswell?

  2. If your car is 1992 model or earlier you can dispense with the catalyser but
make sure that you can still use the Lambda probe which screws into a
fitting on the front of the cat or on the downpipe.

    Cheers, Peter.

The "bolts" are available separately, they're pressed into that flange
the way the wheel studs are pressed into hubs. Of course, you could
just use 6 mm bolts instead of paying big bucks at the dealer, or trying
to source something similar elsewhere. However, if the flange itself
is rusted out, split flanges (2 halves that bolt together) are available
    from aftermarket sources.

Thanks, I actually forgot which side the flange joint was on, and the cat
will last at least another year I think. The joint after the cat is a
normal sleeve type, so I sliced down the side with an angle grinder.

New exhaust fitted and mot passed.
