    Hi all,

My sister is about to replace her '87 Volvo 760 GLE and pass it on to me ;), and I'm
helping her find the right car for her.

    We've tested:

1998 S70 Turbo, great shape, low kms, really cheap -> but have read Lemon Aid reviews
    about safety and reliability issues
1999 S80 T6 Twin Turbo, really nice car, also a great buy -> have read horror stories in
Lemon Aid regarding reliability issues, only on the 1999s

The 99 S70 gets great reviews, the S80 in 2000, well, ?!? a little bit better.

    She's also driven a

2000 Saab 95 Aero (there was a 93 Viggen 2door that I had my eye on for me! ;)
1999 Audi A6 Quattro 2.8 <- probably the best riding car out of them all, but had a little
bit of road noise that I didn't expect.

The Saab 95 had the least amount of road noise, but you could hear that 4 cylinder working
away, the S70 was the loudest car in the bunch (we tested a non turbo year 2000). The S80
was amazing all around, but the reviews have made us think that Saab is probably more
    reliable than the '99 S80s.

Any suggestions (on Volvo reliability issues with the models I've stated?) The sooner she
buys something, means she donates her lovely 760 GLE to me sooner (I need it for a winter
beater, heated seats, ohhh so nice ;)

    Thanks.

I bought a 1998 V70 T5 new, and had such good luck with the car that I
also bought a used 1998 S70 T5 in March 2002. Both have been great
cars, but if you plan on relying on dealer service, I wouldn't recommend
    buying one.

    I have a 98 S70 T5 and it's been a great car. I have replaced one
battery and one headlight and one taillight in 5 years. However, I'm
noticing a little transmission howl on colder mornings and hope it's not
fatal. Dealer service here appears to be okay, but I have no real
experience with them. I would buy another if they were available. Now
that FORD owns them it's anybody's guess.
