Does anybody know, which 2, 7 or 9 series, in the UK, came with the 4
cylinder, 2.3l non-turbo engine with the 16v head?

Or does anybody in the UK have one for sale at reasonable cost?

    Thanks...

AFAIK, the B234 was only available in the 740 GLE, and early 940 GLE which
was a NA 16valver. To distinguish it, the 700 used the matt black turbo
grille, and the 900 used the multi slat chrome turbo grille. There should be
a "16valve" badge on the back.

Its not a bad engine, though it suffers alot worse with poor maintanance
than the regualr red blocks. Its not particually torquey low down and they
have problems with timing belts, idlers, tensioners, and balance shaft belts
which must be changed at 36k intervals. Belt breakage will wreck the
    cylinder head.

Turbo Intercooler's, either in 2 litre, 2.3, LPT or HPT forms from 135bhp to
190bhp is the better engine, especially in an estate and for towing with,
    depsite being abit juicy.

Probably the best comprimise is the 2.3 LPT with 165bhp and the 4 speed + OD
    manual box.

Yep the 16V isn't much for towing... we had one for 4 years, and (I never
drove it, so this is all from my dad... I was too young at the time) there
wasn't a huge improvement on ease of towing with the 16V. We had a balance
shaft issue, covered by warranty. Other then that for the 4 years we had it,
we liked it more then our 8V 1985 740 GLE.
