Well turbos aren't *supposed* to have a flame trap, but that's not to say
somebody hasn't stuck one in the empty housing. I always check and clean out
the housing anyway, it never hurts.
As far as I know the car is completely stock.
 
A good rev out in the lower gears once the cars warm , then try doing the
plugs air filter fuel filter oil and idling valve .A rev out often cleans up
the basics then you start with the previous bits . Remember the muffler
might be clogged .
 
AFTER A WARM UP ,REV THE CAR OUT IN THE LOWER GEARS on a long run or free
way BEFORE YOU TUNE IT .then after making sure the muffler is not clogged
do the usual things filters plugs oil .Volvos need a rev out and a higher
octane fuel helps heaps just a tank .
