What is your experience with buying Volvo parts? Where do you buy them?
Buying parts in the states, is it worth it? Do we have to pay duty and tax?
VLVWORLD.com is Canadian owned located here near Montreal, but the parts are
in $US and some come from USA. What is you experience with it?
At times dealer prices are triple then online Volvo parts retailers. Parts
stores here in Montreal do not have quality after market parts, and the
prices are many times more than the dealers.

    _____
Foreign Car Parts of Groton, CT, <http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo.htm>
    has provided very good service.

Prices are similar to other on-line suppliers like IPD and VLVWORLD. I
have received orders worth $US 450 via US Parcel Post, and not paid any
tax or duties. If you plan your purchases in advance, the delivery
times of two to three weeks are not a problem. I have paid via credit
card on line, or sent a US$ money order. FCP usually ships the same or
    the next day.

Parts quality is fine. I am currently rebuilding the front suspension
of a 1981 245. FCP supplied _all_ the parts. Brands included Moog for
ball joints, KYB for strut shocks, some parts were made in Germany, some
    in Spain, some in Italy.

Often you'll find that items shipped from the US via postal service carry
very little if any duty. Conversely, items shipped via UPS will always carry
hefty tax/duty/brokerage fees. I try to avoid UPS like the plague.

UPS is great for large/heavy stuff shipped domestic. For anything crossing
the border it's horrible though, same goes for really small light weight
    stuff.

I've found lots of useful parts on eBay. If the mechanic calls to say
I need "part X" I usually have to leave it up to him but if I know
what I need I try to find it on eBay and then FCPGroton. There are
lots of good sites for parts listings but usually they want to ship
FedEx or UPS. If you have the time, comb eBay.

Also, there are a surprising number of parts that are interchangeable
with other cars so, depending on your model, you may find a suitable
Delco part and save a few bucks.

    good luck,
