    Hi,

My Volvo 240 Stc Automatic, B230F from 1989 is driving me crazy.

It has problems starting when it is cold. I need to step on the
speeder during start and a few sec's after it has starter. After this
there is no problem. If I don't do it, the engine dies instantly.

I have renewed the spark plugs and cables, ignition distributor, the
air filter, refitted a new tube between the airbox and the manifold at
the engine. The computer in the car tells me that I have problems at
    Idle/coldstart.

Does anybody have a clue ?

    Thank you in advance,

    Bahle

I would check the "throttle bypass" valve. This valve is controlled by the
fuel injection computer to maintain a constant idle speed; the computer
"opening" the valve is just like pushing on (or releasing) the gas pedal in
terms of what the engine does. The valve is located below the intake
maniflow and has two hoses (about 1" diameter) going to it -- one from each
side of the throttle. There is also a connector with three wires on it.
