heated power seat problems

  1. Greetings all,

I tore in to my car over the weekend to try to determine why my seat
heater didn't work...and why the power for my seat back only moved ove
    side of the seat back.

The seat heater problem was easy to figure out, a little more difficult
to repair. THe black box under the seat...I assume it's the
thermostat, regulator....well, the four wires going in to it we hanging
under the seat....all the connections were broken off at the solder
points inside the connector (AMP 365060). I tried a local junk yard
with out any luck. Now I will try to solder some wires to the old
connector...leaving enough wire to pig tail them together. I'll use
the passenger side to figure out which wires go in to the 1 through 4
    connectors.

The seatback recliner problem has so far eluded me. I looks like
everything is connected...I'm thinking of taking the control unit for
the passenger side and see if it works the driver's side seat back any
better. Any suggestions as to how else I might try troubleshooting
    this problem would be appreciated.

  3. The black box under the driver's seat on my 93 945T is the computer
controlling the air bags. But your post doesn't indicate what year or model
    you are talking about.

  5. !. Sorry for neglecting to inform that my vehicle is a 1990 760Ti
    wagon.
    2. Peter, I didn't receive your email response.
    3. The unit from "under the seat" has the following numbers on it:
1363999 12V...on the side opposite the pins/connector is written 0190
LEATHER.....That's why I deduced it was for the seat heater, never
considering it might be for the air bags.

    4. THanks for the help...I hope I'm not creating more problems just to
have toasty buns and a straight seat back.

  6. The seat heater wiring comes straight from the fusebox via the switches. The
smaller connectors at seat corners are for the heaters.

    All the best, Peter.

0190 is the build date on the thermo relay/timer for seat heater. On the
cloth seats the unit says "cloth."
