    Hallow!
What cables of the High Voltage do you use in your own B230F? I have at
choice Bosch and ScenTech (ScenTech are more expensive and I do not know
which to buy? Give me the advice which cables are better. I'vo got Volvo 740
with B230F motor with LH 2.2 version.

    All the best....

    Just a thought......

A couple years ago, I wanted to replace the plug wires on my '89 240...
prices seemed excessive, so I bought a cheap set of wires for a Ford or
Chevy V8 at Walmart (about $8, as I recall), and picked out 5 wires that
were about right length for the 4 plugs and the coil. They have worked fine,
no problems at all, although I will probably do another replacement this
summer, again using cheap, generic wires.....

Either will be fine, just get the Bosch if they're cheaper.

I've heard negative things about the Bosch also. Never heard anything
about the ScanTechs. From what I have heard Bougicords are the best. I
picked up a set on Ebay cheap, something like $15. and have not had a
problem on my b230ft. They go for about $40. Eeuroparts and TCP.

were better than others, the price is good (25 Euro for complet).
What do You think about this?

  7. The B230 pulls a fast one on us - the connections at the distributor cap
are... ahh... unique. Okay, they are weird.

Bougicord cables are OEM, exact fit and last about 60,000 miles.

Bougicord is the OEM supplier, they're what Volvo originally sold on the
car, rebranded with the Volvo name of course.

  10. HuH????
Bosch are NEVER cheaper. You should have said to get Bosch if they are
    the most expensive.
I'll never buy Bosch again, particularly if there is another
alternative...just like I'll never buy another Volvo...after having
bought TWELVE new ones since 1967.

  11. How so????
That's all you're going to say?
    How are they unique?
    How are they weird?
Anecdotal opinions don't really mean too much unless you supply a few
    simple details.

  12. Bougicord is NOT oem.
What are you talking about? HuH?
If they were oem, the dealer would be selling them .

  13. Can you back up that statement with a modicum of proof?

If you looked at one you'd know what we mean and no further explanation
would be necessary. It's not too hard to figure out so long as you know
to take a close look at the cap.

From the catalog of iPD, one of the most respectable suppliers of Volvo
replacement and upgrade parts there is.

    http://www.ipdusa.com/ProductsCat.aspx?CategoryID=1358&NodeID=4165&RootID=629

"Bougicord is the original equipment supplier to Volvo."

Of course the ones you buy from the dealer have "Volvo" stamped on them
    but they're manufactured by Bougicord.

I have no idea why I should bother, given that you're an argumentative
little trollboy, but Bougiecord are OEM on most vehicles made in Europe.
They work fine (it's really hard not to with modern materials).
Eventually they fail by the white centre core going brittle and probably
    the end cap falling off.

A better lead though is almost anything made of silicone. They last
longer without embrittling. As there is no measurable difference in
performance, then reliability is all you can really ask for. Get a
brand that makes vehicle specific sets, with end caps moulded to be the
right shape. A "bend to fit" cap (like the execrable Hotwires) doesn't
fit anything particularly well and has poor moisture proofing.

Best plug leads of all are Lucas (yes, Lucas) - the red silicone ones.

I'd be interested to know just what is wrong with Bosch

    Just avoid Hotwires.

The cables are generally too long to fir nicely, and the coil end
connectors are wrong for the rear mounted distributor cap.

Sounds like it's the wrong set of wires for that car then, dunno, I
bought Magnecore wires for my cars several years ago, they were
expensive but they have a lifetime warranty and are still in pristine
condition so I think it was worth it.
