I just picked it up yesterday and put about 250 highway miles on it today. I've never had a Volvo before, but I bought this car from a trusted used dealer who has years of experience working on Volvos. What kind of issues should I be looking for on this rig? I've read some things about the viscous couplings going bad if you don't watch your tires. Driving it today, I noticed a slight engine "hitch," -- a little hiccup -- while cruising at about 73 with cruise control on. Also, I can feel the drivetrain "gripping" a bit when going uphill, but I assumed that's due to the AWD. Any insights anyone has would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, Mark - - - We took delivery of our 98 V70XC in July of that year. On lengthy trips (Reno to Los Angeles, etc.), there was an occasional hiccup at speed - much like going over a modest expansion joint. This was a known issue at about that time and was fixed by the Dealer by about the end of the year, as I remember. It was strictly a matter of a small reprogramming of the onboard computer. You're likely stuck with having the work done by your friendly Volvo Dealer, if the fellow mentioned isn't one. On the other hand, I'm not sure that recalls have an expiration date . . . bob noble Reno, NV, USA
