Is this a good used car to get? Any weaknesses/problems? Am looking at one
which the original engine was burned up, and an engine with 90,000 miles was
just put in. Thanks for your opinion.

  2. I would say if the owner burned up the engine, he probably didn't take good
care of the rest of the car. I would pass and look for a well kept 850.

We don't know why the engine was "burned up". There are many reasons for
850 engine failure that are not necessarily the owners fault. For example,
    water pump seizing.

But I think that '96 - '97 were probably the best years for the 850.

  4. I'd look for one that was well taken care of. He likely raced it
and wore the original engine out with excessively hard driving.

The suspension and drivetrain componenhts will also be worn out
or close to it. The replacement engine was probably swapped in
to keep the car from being a total loss - so that could resell
it. My guess is that the work was done as cheaply as possible.

    Next vehicle...

Oh - good type and year - just this one has problems.
