I'm restoring a 1966 P1800S. It came with a wood rim steering wheel.
Unfortunately the stainless steel has cracked and can't be welded. Can
    anyone help with a replacment?

Try http://brickboard.com or the Yahoo 1800 list ... Mate.
If you need air filters try http://su-filters.com

P.S. Any competent machine shop with a TIG welder should be able to
    fix it.

    cheers!

Dave, if it is an original volvo option wheel it is worth fixing, one
sold on ebay last week for over $1200.00

    good luck,

Yes, that is the point I was trying to make, it is likely 304 stainless
which is easy to re weld, you might have to machine out the rivets that
hold on the wood to keep from frying it but, after welding, the bead
could be machined down close and the wheel frame - bead blasted or
brushed back to very close to it's original condition then the wood
    re-riveted.

    Cheers!
