I've just got a 1995 Volvo 850 (UK). I've been trying to remove the
luggage cover, the fabric cover you can pull over the load space. The
owners manual says just to slide it to the left to disengage it from
the right side and pull it out. The cover will move to the left, but
it's still about 3/4 cm away from disengaging from the holder.

Am I doing something wrong or is it defective in some way?

    Thanks

Under the right hand side of the cover, looking from the rear of the car,
there is a sliding handle. Push that to the left, then pull the right hand
side rearwards to disengage it. Once the right hand side is out then the
left hand side will pull clear.

Well it does in a V70 and I doubt it's ant different on an 850.

It is different on the 850, there is no lever. I undid 2 small torx
screws each side and then it came out as described in the manual. I
think maybe the torx screws were some kind of DIY addition to make it
    more sturdy.
