Running fast idle

    My 1988 740 GL has developed an intermittent fast running idle. Any ideas
    what it could be, is it a clue that it is intermittent

    Have you checked out your Idle Air Control Valve? Have you also cleaned
    thoroughly the inlet tract (from Air filter to manifold)? Should be done every
    couple of years.
