S70 mud guard repair

Discussion in 'Volvo S70' started by Armchair observer, May 11, 2005.

  1. I've got a loose front mud guard on my 98 S70, and I could use some
advice on repairing it. The plastic guard has torn away from two of
the pop rivets that secure it. Is this something I can fix myself if I
    buy the right Volvo fasteners?

Other than the rivets, all you need is a drill to remove the remnants of
what's there and a pop rivet tool.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)

  3. Its up to you what you use, but I like to use speed nuts and metal self
tapper (though it is superfluous) with a spring steel washer under the head,
so I can remove it when ever with out having to drill.

  4. Upon closer inspection, it looks as though the lower mudguard rivets
hold the S70 side trim on as well. What I don't understand is how to
get the interior remnants of the rivets out if I drill them out. What
will keep them from rattling inside the car?

  6. They'll just drop out. If not, remove and refit and then they'll drop out.
