Okay, so I am at a mall and go to leave and the car won't start. So I run
over to SEARS and they have a battery that is designed to fit the car
(almost unbelievably!) and I replace it and the car starts and everything is
    good, right?
    Wrong!
After driving about 25 miles the message screen displays the "electrical
system service required" message and the little battery indicator is
    glowing.
Considering the closest Volvo dealer is like 50 miles away, is there
anything to check besides alternator output?
I have read stories on various forums that a lot of non-OEM Volvo batteries
will cause the system to do this. Any truth to these rumors?
    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

    1999 model, by the way.

Your warning sounds like the old equivalent of the battery light. Check
the voltage with the engine running.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
