    Hi everyone

    I got a problem with my '93 440 1.6 Li

When driving along and getting to a speed of around 75 mph (not on public
roads) The steering starts to shake.

    Wheel balance has been checked
Front lower bushes seem ok but just by eyesight test
Brake discs (rotors) and pads seem ok, pads are new but not solved problem

Anyone any other ideas before i spend the big bucks and get the bottom
    wichbones done?

    Thanks all

    Regards

Check to see if tyres are out of round. Most likely the balance is out. Get
it balanced off the studs for a more accurate balance. There have been many
occasion when I have returned a "balanced" car to be redone.

If the steering shakes but not the car then it will be a front end problem.
If it's the whole car then the rear.
It maybe a bush issue but not more usual for it to be the above. What are
your alignment figures like ? Helpful to get a printed alignment sheet every
time. How are your tires wearing ? What are you lane changes like ? Does it
pull faster in one direction than the other ? It can be a front shock. I
have pulled the odd driver over to explain to them that their front wheel is
bouncing up and down (Actually off the road) at 100+ Kph. Sometime they even
comment that they noticed some vibration.......

Check back in the archives and then get your rear wheels balanced and have their
    toe-in checked.

    Cheers, Peter.
