I have an 89 760T that when cold stalls during start up (in the first
minute). It will start up easily afterwards and when it warms up it is
fine. Any suggestions as to what I should look at first? Also when cold
during the first few minutes of driving I hear a sound like a "slide
whistle" (possibly a leaking vacum hose) that goes away after 10 seconds and
does not return once the engine warms up. If I let the engine idle for a few
minutes before driving I will not get this sound. The temp here is around 0
    deg.C or 32 deg.F.
Will a clogged oil trap cause these problems? Because I am noticing the
dipstick comes out sometimes. I just passed the emission test easily so I do
not think I have piston ring or manifold problems.

    Thanks,

    Robert

A malfunctioning PCV system can cause buildup problems in the throttle
valve and idle valve. I would start by removing and cleaning the idle
valve and throttle body, and follow with a proper throttle body setup.
And of course, I'd also make the PCV system function as designed.
