    Hi all,

Wife's 90 model 740 having trouble starting and running after it does
start. It's the standard 230 motor. When you do get it started it falls on
it's face when idling. Restarts and dies again. Restart and if it does keep
running it is pulsing between 6 and 8 hundred rpm and putting off some
pretty funky fumes out the exhaust pipe. After it warms up it runs good,
idling down normal at stop lights and signs. But if you turn it off and try
and restart warm it might not start for you.

    Thanks for your help,
    Bruce

Could be the retainer seal between the injection and the engine and/or
the o-rings on the injectors. Inexpensive stuff.

    Good luck!

I'm told it can also be a sticky air intake valve (butterfly-type) just
before the intake manifold. Often can be cleaned with good results.
