Right--actually since the harness was crumbling---I temporarily sprial
wrapped it --and I think it's fine.

Mike, and James, I have a question. I think my turbo might blow up. I
started a thread here:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt....6cb64e?q=shaved+turbo&rnum=1#194d4128236cb64e

and I cleaned out the oil trap and now the engine has sucking at the
oil cap like it should and no more fumes and smell and smoke in the
engine area like before---

But I think the pressure is now blowing the hose out of the "Y' elbow
nipple from pressure ?

It didn't do this before when it was clogged. How can I test the
actuator or make sure it's opening. Doesn't it open after boost?
maybe that's why whomever shaved a hole in the compressor side of the
turbo?

Nobody shaved a freaking hole in the side of the compressor, it's been
worn there by the metal hose, it's clearly obvious, end of story.

There shouldn't be any appreciable pressure in the intake hose, but
there may be a slight surge of it as the compressor bypass valve opens
and dumps the boost back into the intake when you let off the gas which
prevents the turbine from slowing down. If the breather hose is blowing
off then it's worn or hardened to the point that it won't stay on. A zip
tie is probably enough to temporarily fix it anyway.

If you haven't already, give Dave a shout. He found a harness for my
1987 740 and worked to fit my budget. I ordered the harness on Friday
and I haven't yet received the harness, but I REALLY like Dave and his
communication and service.

Okay---and yes, James, you are right--the hose has turned to plastic
and hardened and won't stay on.

Thanks. hehe "shaved" ; ) As you see, I'm a Noob, so I'm just
learning about this "inherited" car I have.
